HISTORY

What started as a mobile food service over 48 years ago, has turned into one of the Bronx’s premier establishments. When owner Carl Giordano Sr. started his business in the Bronx, where he was born and raised, his goal was to serve the area with the best prices and customer care around.

Fast forward to today, and his family-run and operated store is exactly that. Giordano’s Big G makes sure customers always leave happy, by overseeing the day-to-day operations himself. At any given time, his brother Jack, son Carl Jr., and daughters, Christine, and Jenifer, can be found working along side him.

Their meats are BY FAR the freshest and the best prices in all of the Bronx. It’s the only place I know where you can walk in, pick your piece of beef, and tell them how thick you want your steaks. Even if you don’t know everything about the process, they are EXTREMELY helpful and friendly. I buy all my summer grilling meats from them exclusively.

My wife and I enjoy making a trip down every month from Westchester, so we can stock our freezer with meat and cheeses. We bring a cooler, because up where we live, you couldn’t get prices or the quality of meat Big G’s has to offer.

I found the history of Giordano’s fascinating. The on-street parking is free. There are not too many places around here that sell wholesale and will also make up a party platter or sandwich for you. Its an interesting place to visit in its own right.

When the pandemic hit, and finding meet and basic food was very difficult in New York, Big G’s was there for my family. They always had quality food available, and became a life saver for our neighborhood.
